Checkpoint 6——Planned updates based upon Testing ng Session
In the practice class, when the teacher and some students were playing my game, I got a lot of feedback from that day as I had given them a form for feedback.
The first and most feedback I got was the character jumps not smoothly and is hard to control. Even when the player presses the space bar many times, it still does not work. This problem would affect the players due to not being able to control the character and play in this game smoothly, so it will cause players maybe to lose a lot of interest and patience on my game.
Second, the movement of characters is accelerated too fast, and players can get confused. The Players sometimes they do not know what the situation is because of the accelerated movement of the character. For example, when the player jumps to another platform, they think they had arrived at the other platform, but actually they have fallen. This problem causes the player to repeat the same level over and over again, because they cannot properly control the character.
The third is that the tool tip prompt for each level does not stay on the screen for long enough, so if you miss the tool tip then the player will not know how to get to the next level. At the end of the game, the players felt confused and were unable to continue to complete the game because of this problem. Some players who almost finished the game, still couldn’t complete it because the prompt flashed too quickly, so some players had to go back to find the tip, and fell off the platform because of that. This made some players very frustrated because they had to start all over again.
The teacher suggested that there should be a test button that goes directly to each level, so that the teacher or someone else can easily test it.
I also got a lot of praise in the testing, most people like how my game works and the creativity. They were very satisfied with the graphics and the presentation of the animation effect. They also enjoyed the background music while playing the game.
Personal observations: In the course of my play, I found an enemy was moving strangely and moved somewhere else, falling off the platform in level 3. I need to fix that problem as well.
And I noticed that some parts of the game are not prompted, so the player does not know how to pass. There are also hints for areas where text is not fully displayed because the area was not big enough to fit the text.
